Overview of the safari

This 2 Day Gorilla Trekking safari take you to the Volcanoes national park which is located at the Rwanda –Congo border and is part of Virunga Mountains. The park is best known as a sanctuary for the regions rare mountain gorillas. The park is set high on the jungle covered slopes of the volcanic Virunga Mountains. Visitors flock this amazing park to experience face to face encounter with these incredible creatures. Visitors are also allowed to spend an hour with these primates in their natural habitats. Apart from mountain gorillas, you can also enjoy other attractions such as the golden monkeys, crater lake on mount Bisoke, Musanze cave, Twin lakes (Ruhonda and Butera), Karisoke research Centre, Dian Fossy grave, River Mukungu, and then the local communities. This is a gorilla trekking safari.

Day1: Road transfer from Kigali to the Volcanoes 
The safari will start with a pick up from either Kigali airport or Kigali city by our professional guide who will transfer you to Volcanoes national park in a safari vehicle. This journey takes about 2hrs and 45mins from Kigali to Volcanoes national park, on your arrival at Volcanoes national park, you will check in at Five Volcanoes hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2; Gorilla trekking experience and transfer Musanze to Kigali
You will start your day with an early breakfast at 6;00am so that you are ready for the transfer to the park headquarters at 6;30am for gorilla trekking briefing. After this, then head into the park under the guidance of a guide and two scouts so that you are able to track the amazing gorillas from a closer range in their habitats. There is an  opportunity of discovering the 10 families of gorillas that live within this park. This beautiful experience can last from 2-6 hours but it’s definitely worth it. After the trekking experience, you will head back to your lodge for lunch and be ready to embark on your journey of 2hrs and 45mins back to Kigali international airport for your outbound flight and that will mark the end of this short excursion.
