8 Day Uganda and Rwanda classic adventure

Safari Overview

You will start your Uganda and Rwanda classic adventure with a journey from Kigali Rwanda and end it from Entebbe Uganda. Kigali is Rwanda’s biggest town and also serves as the capital city of Rwanda. The town is surrounded by towering mountains and the largest of them is mount Kigali. The town is the country’s commercial, financial and cultural hub served by Kigali international airport with a wide range of accommodation options. It also has a collection of restaurant’s and other points of interests such an atmospheric market, Kigali genocide museum, craft shops, busy streets, meandering boulevards, Inema art gallery, Presidential museum and lastly green hillsides. Kigali is said to be one of the most attractive cities in Africa making it worth a visit.

Big Cat in Queen Elizabeth Park

From Volcanoes, you will cross over to Uganda and explore Bwindi impenetrable, Queen Elizabeth and finally Kibale national park. The highlights of this safari include; Golden monkey trekking, Genocide museum visit, Gorilla trekking in Bwindi, Chimpanzee trekking and many others

Day 1: Arrival and Hotel Transfer

On your arrival at Kigali airport, you will be picked by our professional guide who will take you to Kigali Marriott hotel for your dinner and overnight stay. The guide will shortly brief you about your next day’s activities and experiences and then will let you rest in your hotel.

From Volcano es, you will cross over to Uganda and explore Bwindi impenetrable, Queen Elizabeth and finally Kibale national park. The highlights of this safari include; Golden monkey trekking, Genocide museum visit, Gorilla trekking in Bwindi, Chimpanzee trekking and many others.

Day 2: Transfer from Kigali to Volcanoes National Park

Volcanoes national park is located at the Rwanda – Congo border on the jungle covered slopes of volcanic virunga mountain. The park is popularly known as a sanctuary for the rare mountain gorillas. Visitors don’t get tired of flocking this park to have a face to face encounter with these unique primates. Regulated treks through the reserves give visitors a chance to spend time with these incredible creatures in their natural habitats. Apart from gorillas, the park has other attractions such as golden monkeys, Dian fossy tombs, Musanze cave, Karisoke research Centre, River Mukungu, Twin lakes (Ruhonda & Bulera), Bisoke Mountain, Karisimbi and others.

Day itinerary

You will start your day with your breakfast and get ready for your journey to visit Kigali genocide museum which is located just outside the city. The museum Centre is a challenging, educational and ultimately inspiring a great place to understand the cause, tragedy and successful rebuilding post genocide. At this museum, visitors come to realize that over 250,000 deceased are buried on the site of this memorial.

After visiting this museum, you will proceed with your journey to Volcanoes national park. On your arrival, you check in at Mountain gorilla view lodge for lunch and afternoon relaxation. In the late afternoon, you will be picked to go for visit the Iby Iwacu cultural village. This visit will give you a chance to visit the local people in their community and have a taste of their cultural, traditional and beliefs. After the visit, you will return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Transfer from Volcanoes National Park to Bwindi in Uganda

You will start your day with a very early breakfast and be ready to be transferred to the park headquarters for golden monkey trekking briefing. You will then head into the park with the help of the guide to track these primates. This tracking activity gives visitors a unique experience of catching a glimpse of these endangered golden monkeys. These primates with their bright orange fur contrast the green rain forests of Virunga Mountain are surely a worth experience. These golden monkeys have vibrant colors, energetic demeanor and sizeable troupes of up to 30 individuals and are definitely a sight to behold. After this amazing experience, you will return to your lodge for an early lunch and get ready to be transferred to Bwindi. You will cross the Rwanda –Uganda border and enter at the Southern part of Bwindi and you will be able to arrive at your lodge in the evening. You will check in at Mahogany springs lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Full Day in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Bwindi impenetrable forest national park is located in the South Western part of Uganda and its famously known for its mountain gorillas. Bwindi is also known as a world heritage site by UNESCO because of its uniqueness. It also inhabits other primates such as the black and white colobus monkeys and the green monkeys. Other attractions on this park include bird species, butterflies and the Batwa culture.

Day itinerary

You will start your day with an early breakfast and then get ready to be transferred to the park headquarters for gorilla trekking briefing. The park rangers with then lead you through the bush to track the gorillas from a closer range. This experience can last up to 6hrs and it gives visitors an opportunity to sit in the forest among the gorillas, listen to them, talk to them and marvel at the size of the male dominant. While enjoying the company of these unique creatures, you are free to have your lunch from the jungle to help you prolong your stay with these primates. You should therefore remember to leave your lodge with your lunch boxes so that you don’t miss out on this chance. After this wonderful experience, you will return to your lodge for the rest of the day relaxation.

Day 5: Transfer from Bwindi to Northern Queen Elizabeth National Park

Queen Elizabeth national park is one of the most popular national parks in Uganda. It’s actually the second largest national park after Murchison’s. The park is divided into two sections and that is Northern and Southern section. In the Northern part of the park, visitors look forward to activities such as boat riding along Kazinga channel which is a home to the largest population of hippos in the whole world plus abundance of crocodiles. Not forgetting a number of bird species on the water shores. The park also has Kyambura gorge commonly known as the valley of the Apes. This gorge is a home for chimpanzees. The park has tropical rain forest spread with canopies, not forgetting the 3 salty crater lakes.

Day itinerary

You will start your day with your breakfast and then get ready to start on your drive into Ishasha with a morning game drive to track the tree climbing lions and then proceed to Mweya safari lodge for your lunch and refreshments. You will later be picked for a boat ride along Kazinga channel for an opportunity to view hippos and crocodiles plus several bird species. You may also encounter herds of elephants, buffaloes and antelopes. After this beautiful experience, you will return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6: Transfer from Queen Elizabeth to Kibale National Park

After having your morning breakfast, you will be picked foe a morning game drive in Queen Elizabeth national park. During this game safari in the open grasslands of Kasenyi, you will be able to view a variety of animals such as buffaloes, elephants, lions and antelopes.  You will then drive to Kyaninga lodge in Fort portal for lunch and afternoon relaxation.

Day 7: Full Day in Kibale National Park

Kibale national park is located in the Western part of the country, protecting moist ever green rain forest. Its famously known for inhabiting chimpanzees and its considered the best place to track the chimpanzees in the whole world. It also inhabits red colobus monkeys.

Day itinerary

You will start your day with an early breakfast and get ready to be transferred to the park head quarter for chimpanzee trekking briefing. You will then start on your walk which starts from Kanyanchu visit Centre. With the guidance of the park ranger, you will be able to track the chimpanzees from a closer range in their habitats.  While tracking these primates, you should look out for the black and white colobus monkeys, red tailed monkeys and the grey cheeked mangabey. After spending about 3hrs with these primates, you ill head back to your lodge for your lunch and refreshments. You will later be picked to go for Bigodi walk. Bigodi wetland sanctuary is located in the fringe of Kibale national park where guided tours are conducted along path through the wetland along board trail. The sanctuary s a birders paradise with over 138 bird species such as Great blue turaco. The sanctuary is a home to 8 primates including the black and white colobus, mangabey, red colobus, and others. After this tiring but worth walk, you will return to your lodge for your dinner and overnight stay.

Day 8: Transfer from Kibale National Park to Kampala/Entebbe

You will start your day with a splendid breakfast and then get ready to embark on your journey back to Kampala and proceed to Entebbe airport for your flight and this will mark the end of your remarkable experience.
