6 Days Best of Mgahinga gorilla and Lake Mburo parks safari

Safari Overview

This amazing journey will start from Entebbe, head to Lake Mburo national park for two nights and then proceed to Mgahinga national park for the last 2 nights. Your first night will be spent at Botanical gardens hotel in Entebbe and this hotel will give you the most calming and satisfying accommodation for it’s in the middle of the forest surrounded by trees creating  a beautiful scenery.

Day 1; Arrival and hotel transfer 

On your arrival at Entebbe airport, you will have a meet and greet experience with our professional guide who will warmly welcome you into the country, transfer you to Botanical gardens hotel and shortly brief you about your tour. You will check in at the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2; Transfer to Lake Mburo national park

Lake Mburo national park is located in Western Uganda, Mbarara area. It’s the closest national park to Kampala found on the Masaka- Mbarara high way. This park is known for its sculptured landscape with grassy hills and lake shores which inhabits a number of mammals such as lions, leopards, zebras, giraffes, buffaloes, impalas, hyenas and water bucks.

Day itinerary

After enjoying your breakfast, our guide will pick you to start on your journey to Lake Mburo national park. During your journey, you will have a stopover at the Equator in Kayabwe to take some pictures and buy fruits. You will then proceed with your journey to Lake Mburo. On your arrival, you will check in at Rwakobo lodge for your lunch and afternoon relaxation. You will later be picked to go for Horse Back riding into the park. This ride will create for you an opportunity to view animals such as zebras, hyenas, elephants, leopards, impalas and many others. After this experience, you will be brought back to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3; Full Day at Lake Mburo National Park

You will begin your day with morning breakfast, and get ready to be picked for a morning game drive. This morning safari takes you deep into the park and creates for you an opportunity to see mammals such as zebras, hyenas, leopards, impalas, buffaloes, elephants, and others. After enjoying game viewing on the game drive, you will be transferred to your lodge for lunch and afternoon relaxation. In the evening, you will be picked to go for a sunset boat ride on Lake Mburo. This adventure is mainly targeting aquatic animals such as hippos and crocodiles, not forgetting water bucks and red bucks found on the lake shores. After this calming experience, you will return to your hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4; Transfer from Lake Mburo to Mgahinga gorilla National park

You will begin your day with a morning breakfast as usual and then get ready to be picked for yet another game drive in the park. The main purpose of this park is to create a chance for you to catch on the animals that you might have missed out during your previous game drive. This game drive will continue and head out of the park and proceed to Mgahinga national park. On your arrival, you will check in at Gahinga lodge for lunch and rest of the day relaxation.

Day 5; Full Day in Mgahinga gorilla 

Mgahinga gorilla national park is located in the South Western part of Uganda. Its known as Uganda’s smallest national park. The park is famously known for inhabiting the rare mountain gorillas. Actually its only Mgahinga and Bwindi national parks that homes these rare mountain gorillas in the Country. Mgahinga national park has other attractions such as Golden monkeys, 3 Volcanoes (Gahinga, Muhabura and Sabinyo). It also has several bird species and then the Batwa culture.

Day itinerary

You will start your day with an early breakfast and be transferred to the park headquarters for gorilla trekking briefing. With the lead of a guide, you will walk deep into the park for an opportunity to track the rare mountain gorillas from a closer range. You will have an opportunity to have a face to face encounter with these incredible creatures. While tracking the mountain gorillas, you should also look out to watch different bird species. After this fulfilling experience, you will return to your lodge for your lunch and afternoon relaxation. In the late afternoon, you will be picked to go for the Batwa cultural village visit. This village visit will give you a chance to interact with the Batwa people who will warmly welcome you and share with you their beliefs and traditions. You will be amazed by their unique way of making fire by rubbing sticks or stones and cooking from firewood. You will also see their grass thatched houses. After this cultural experience, you will return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6; Transfer from Mgahinga gorilla to Kampala. 

You will start your day with breakfast as usual and then get ready to start on your journey back to Kampala. You will have a stopover in Masaka town for an en route lunch and then proceed with your journey to Kampala, proceed to Entebbe airport for your outbound flight and that will mark the end of our service
