What is International Women’s Day for us

International women's day

International Women’s Day (IWD) at Alps Trendy Safaris

At Alps trendy Safaris, we have policies in place that protect and streamline women issues. Women inclusion has been on top of our campaigns in our three pints of focus, that is Community, conservation and sustainability in our society.

On 8th March every year, the world celebrates women. The United Nations theme for international women’s day 2024 is Invest in women: Accelerate progress. Women’s rights, gender equality and bringing the awareness of abuse and violence against women is what we do as we embrace women.

Here are the steps being taken by Alps Trendy Safaris in line with our policies.

Offer Equal employment opportunities: As a way to embrace diversity of our clients, we start by ourselves where we open our recruitment process to both male and female candidates. We give a chance to female candidates and ensure that the ground is leveled to compete with male candidates. This is one of the reasons we have female tour guides as part of our team.

Gender diversity in leadership: Our departments especially office based positions are led by women. We have five departments of Marketing, consultation, website and IT, Accounts and finance and then Operations. Two of them are headed by women and we encourage women to apply for leadership roles and other responsibilities.

Favorable and fair work arrangements: We have flexible work environment for women and we have made a step to cover the salary gap where both genders are paid equally. We allow women to balance work and their family life well. Maternity leave 45 days paid is given to all female employees and paternity leave of 15 days is given to male employees.

Commitment to inclusivity: We encourage female travelers including solo female travelers to book with us by offering option of female guides to meet their needs and feeling included and it is our commitment to inclusivity of both clients and employees.

Women groups and organization: On the community level as one of the three key focus, we support women especially in their e to develop themselves and their communities. We understand that some of them are single mothers who struggle to raise children. We have done this in tourism destination areas where we support the local communities.

Women owned businesses: Our priority is to businesses and community projects owned by women. For example, the Ride for a woman lodge in Bwindi impenetrable forest national park. Their accommodation in Buhoma sector of Bwindi is one of the great lodges for clients who go for gorilla trekking safaris.

Our future plans

We plan to train women and help them enhance their skills to careers with us and those around us.

We plan to increase the maternity leave to 60 days fully paid and paternity leave to 30 days fully paid.
